There are many bars and breweries in the North Carolina Piedmont Triad. So many that if you are someone who is either recently twenty-one years old or new to the area, it may be overwhelming. Here at Beers in your Backyard, we are here to help ease that process by finding great bars for you. You can always listen to our podcast to find more fantastic bars and breweries.
High Point, NC
Plank Street Tavern is a local High Point bar with an extensive list of both beers and liquor drinks, being that it is a full bar. They are located by the High Point Rockers baseball stadium in a very unassuming building on the outside yet very nice inside. One of the main things that keep Plank Street Tavern so vibrant is the events that they hold on a weekly basis such as movie night, game night, live music, and a crowd-favorite karaoke night. One thing to note about Plank Street Tavern is that it doesn’t serve food but does have food trucks come on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Greensboro, NC
Boxcar Bar + Arcade is located in Downtown Greensboro, NC. The main thing that makes this bar really stick out is the extensive list of arcade games. Many could even argue that this is really just an arcade with a bar in it but with a full bar list and 24 rotating craft drafts. They also serve pizza in the arcade, which is the perfect snack to satiate your hunger while competing in some intense arcade games. They also host a Trivia Night every Wednesday at 7 pm. Boxcar is made to be a place where you can have a good time playing reminiscent games while having a couple of drinks.
Winston-Salem, NC
Roar in Winston Salem, NC is a vibrant and lively establishment that perfectly pairs innovation with a bar and food assembly. This multi-story building features a beer wall that you serve yourself at. You read that right. A beer wall where you serve yourself. To work this beer wall, they give you a disney-esque wristband that you wave next to a screen, select the beer you want, then pour yourself a beer. Roar also has plenty of delicious restaurants in the building. They also have simulators that have plenty of games as well as a duckpin bowling alley. They also host live bands and have fantastic bartenders managing a full bar.
High Point, NC
Brown Truck Brewery is a local favorite for High Point University students. Brown Truck has an amazing space for guests to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the beautiful weather. They also have great drinks but that being said they do not serve hard liquor. Like Boxcar, they also do a trivia night from time to time. Though they do not serve food, they do have food trucks that come in very frequently. They are also right next door to Sweet Old Bills so guests can get food there and walk over for some drinks.
